I consider myself to be an above average Q3 player, but an unable to complete the final level on the hardcore setting. Whats his name (zero ?)...is bloody ripping me apart everytime...best score against him is 10-6 and ive been playing the same level for weeks now!

Any level tips from you great players at Barrysworld?

If this is the last level with the columns and a jump upto the BFG where the ceiling crushes you, (it's been a while;-) )
Beat him at his own game - Use the Railgun
from the far side of wherever he is.
When he comes over to you...disappear over the other side...dont forget to air steer away from the jump pad, cos if you land on the top BFG level he'll scrunch you :-(
PS. Use the columns to hide behind dont stay on top of em.

Yeah...thats what i done for the same level on previous difficulty settings, but it doesn't seem to work on this one, cos he just doesn't miss....at all !....poke your head round a piller and zap....your a gonna...no way any human being can fire that fast and accurate with a rail gun...dont care how good you are.
Well...if you done it on hardcore, that way..then it's possible, Thanks mate..i'll keep trying > :)

Gonna be at my monitor for quite a while yet.

Ok there really aren't too many players who can have a stand out in the open rail gun fight with Xaero and win! his rail aim is incredibly cheap so the best way to beat him is to adopt some cheap tactics too, and yes i do mean camping! heres how I, and many other players have beaten Xaero at the top difficulty level (btw play him at nightmare setting coz he doesnt seem any harder at that level than at hardcore)

Anyways heres the plan, 1st off you do need to get yourself tooled up, this is the trickiest part of the operation as he is likely to tag you once with the rail as you go to grab a weapon, but assuming you have managed to snag the rocket launcher you need to go and camp behind a specific column, hard to explain without a diagram but ill do my best.

On the platform there are two jump pads.. one you drop down to takes you to the other platform, the other one takes you eventually to the BFG! you want to be on the side of the platform with the jump pad that takes you only to the other side.. then stand behind the column that is 2 columns back and 2 columns in! youll know you are behind the correct column if you can see the rail gun in front of you and to the side. From this position you cannot be hit by Xaero unless he makes a run for the BFG and shoots you from the air, if he does this, simply shoot the switch and you will kill him.. he's only other access to you will be via the jumpad in front of the rail gun.. you will hear him coming and will soon learn the timing of when to start spamming the rail gun area with rockets which will hit Xaero and hopefully kill him as he lands.. It will take a few attempts, but this is a sure fire way to kill the bugger and has been succesfully employed by MANY people!! good luck :)

I must have been playing on the wuss level
cos I dont remember Xaero being as hard as this.
I started again on Hardcore (although I dont like playing single player) and as you say, sometimes he shoots around corners.
The advice about the second column is good but makes for long waits = Boring.(and I Still miss :eek: )
If you can, use the column right where he lands.
PS I'm still trying :)
