Do they exist?
If so, where? (client & server side)
If not will they ever?
Is there any other proggies that can identifie players' info, ie. mods and what nots?

Although they don't get away with it on osp servers (most of the time any way) they can on standard servers, I have my suspicions of some players, and would just like an indication of whether they are cheating or not, if they are - to do somthing about it.

aye the 1.25 or 1.26 (whatever its going to be called) is going to break the Nopbot

thx
I heard that but hardly any servers are using 1.25, so i can't see them jumping to 1.26 for a while, is this the only prevention?

just got word the new patch will be 1.27 and will be out b4 christmas.
As far as i know its the only way unless u chase someone and see them making like err weird turns/shooting walls etc

do not install any patches until somebody has tested them and bw are using them on their servers .
as id lost it with patch 1.24

nah that was a beta and was 1.25
the source codes were given out to mod makers yesterday so they could update their mods before the new patch was released

The current version of the nopbot anyway.

It's a bit like having to upgrade all the time to combat new virus's or new variants of the same virus. That's the ways it's gonna be unfortunately. :(

aye but hopefully id had the sense to download the nopbot and open it to get the code and find some way of blocking it

It doesnt really matter what ID do. If they release 1.27 which blocks the current version of the nopbot, syx66 or whoever he is will just go and recreate it again for 1.27.

Nopcode made the bot and in an interview i saw him do he said he may/may not update the bot but if he does it may/may not go public. At least it may break it for a couple of weeks anyway

Thing is, nopbot is really easy to detect. If you spec someone (in the fp view) using it, you can easily see the jerky movements and tens of tiny minature movements and adjustments in aim per second which easily identifies it as a bot. The far more insidious and , IMO, undetectable in the hands of a skilled user is the autofire bot.

Anyway, at least none of these work in RA3, my current favourite waste of time!!!

"Thing is, nopbot is really easy to detect. "

When I first read that, I thought you meant there was a server side detection for it. :)

Also, Looking at ppl from "spec mode" can be subjective anyway, they might not ALL agree that Player X is using a bot, unless it was as obvious as high FOV aimbots in the early days.

OOer Nightstrike, thats sad to see. Still, nopbot is really easy to detect if you spec someone. The aiming movements of the cursor are just completely unnatural. No, what worries me more is still the autoshoot one - I hope this never makes it to RA3 or a whole new breed of l33t railers will appear :/

aye i admit the one your talking about is fairly lethal although not as common i believe. However in leagues like the bwra3l where competition mode is on you can't speccy opponents to see if they are cheating or not. And theres very few peeps who'd rat their clan m8s out to TheFixer or another admin

Yeah, Ive never been involved in clan compos so I dont really know about that, but I have never heard of clans using such methods. Itll be interesting however to see if any l33t railers or clans suffer a "temporary loss of form" until new versions of the bots for 1.27 appear :)

thing is tho the leagues are on a break atm and by the time they come back there could be updated bots out :(

arrggh I read on usenet that the autofire bot has been made available for 1.17 AND COMPATIBLE WITH RA3!!!!

come on Crt, get your shit together and release 2.0 !!!!!

The use of these 'aimbots' and scripts are really ruining on-line gaming... I think the developers of games have to take a much more serious approach in stopping this sort of thing, such as lawsuits or knee-capping ;-)

Until ppl have a single "internet identity" that can be banned/dealt with, then there's little more they can do at present.

Especially when they are so open with the source code for it, there are bound to be one or two unscrupulous mod authors out there who will abuse the trust ID has placed in them.

Update: I see the source code for Q3 has just been released. Nothing will be safe for very long.

I was right that all the aimbots would be updated before the leagues continued

When is Crt going to bring out version 2 of Ra3, thats what I want to know? (I know 1.4beta is out but BW are not going to change the servers over until 2.0 I believe)

ISTR that only the game logic sources have been released. The game client .exe itself is still closed-source, and thats the bit hackers need to break.

Doubtful. Blocking a specific case is a naive way of doing security.

INcidentally Necro, how do they actually break the exe?

Not sure of exact method, but ultimatly, it involves changing the 'right' places in the .exe with a Hex editor.

The aiming functions were probably written+compiled seperatly, appended to the end of the binary, and then a few call/jump instructions added to do the aiming.
