I have a copy, and I think it's actually rather cool.
The Chaingun rocks, and some of the maps etc are amazing. As to whether it's worth buying, hmmm, I dunno, all depends on if leagues sprout up for it etc.

Smacks of "Lets make Quake 3 as good as Unreal Tournament was 12 months earlier" to me. They still failed.......

In alt.g.q, people seem to be comparing it to Alliance 2 unfavourably. ie If a team of part time mod-authors can release something of that quality, (some of the maps are the best that have been released for Q3 IMO, they look fuggin awesome), then how can ID justify charging 30 quid for something with just 12 (or thereabouts) additional maps, a couple of models and a couple of new weapons, the prox mines being extremely unpopular, from what I can gather.
IMO, Alliance CTF is the best ctf experience out there.

Put it this way.
I don't own Q3, the graphics left me with my chin sitting on my desktop when i got the demo but that was about it, i got bored of deathmatch when Duke 3d was on the market and Halflife multiplayer finished me. I like the look of Q3 TA and a bit of deathmatch doesn't hurt me once in a while i play UT deathmatch often but mostly i play the more team orientated game types.
If id had released TA as a downloadeable, i would probably (most likely) go out and buy Q3 and download TA (after getting boared of deathmatch. approx 5 hours.)
What i am not gunna do is go out and buy Q3 which i still se in shops for £30 and then buy TA which i see in shops for £20. £50 is far too much for a computer game in my opinion. They should maybe release a q3+TA pack for a reduced price. say £30 and reduce Q3 to £20. Then i would buy it.

Having just played the demo I find it rather good but will only buy it at the right price...which is a sub £20 one.

To be fair you should blame retailers rather than id software. The cost price on Q3TA means retailers could probably sell it for £14.99 if they wanted to.
