q3 - new patch speeds

i got the new patch installed......
oh my god.... - the game is moving at half the speed it used to - even going down as low as 3fps (from the usual standard of 60-70)

wtf is going on? anyone else having probs?

(btw - im on a athlon 700 wit a geforce)

wierd it gave me more fps not much like but about 10 more fps

I thought I read somewhere that certain pak files are incompatible with the new patch and that if you remove 3rd party paks 1 by 1 to isolate the problem this might help fix it. Im not sure tho'. Go to planetquake, I think there is a column by xian antkow of id explaing the various issues with the new patch.

heh - well i sorted it about 5 mins after posting this

It was the texture compression - i have everything maxed out on my geforce, and if texture compression is turned off it goes like a slug.

So, I put it back on and it's flying again

(damn id, defaulting it off - we dont all have super-computers to run it on )
