Q3 llamo plz help meh!!! bl33t

I continually get the following error message when trying to connect to Q3 servers: CLIENT_UNKNOWN_TO_AUTH.

I have checked the following things:

- I am running 1.17
- I am only running one Q3 session
- I am using Locki's cfg

My setup is:

- Win98
- ISDN connect (asus TA)
- various ISP's

I have left the connection trying for a good 30 minutes (no I did not sit and watch it), just to make sure, as I had heard that there is sometimes a delay.

Please help meh!!! I have decided to give Q3 a proper go after all this time at QW. I have found too many llamas now flooding the QW servers (you know who you are ), and so I really want to give Q3 a right proper seeing to. Missus.

Any direct (or indirect) references to camping llamas in QW are purely intentional. twink

I get this too, and it seems to be because I've disconnected, then reconnected (dialup), and therefore have a different IP address.

The ID authentication server (or whatever it's called), seems to cache the ip address for a while. Waiting a few minutes, until ID know you've REALLY gone, seems to cure it.

Edit was to mention that I mean wait a few minutes before trying to restart Q3 seems to cure it

hMMMM sadly I get this even when I've been connected for ages (well it seems like ages but it's prolly only a couple of days).

There are many reasons, see if the Multiplayer Authorisation problems section in the FAQ at http://www.upsetchaps.com/quake3guide/AquaQuake3Guide.html helps.

Triple-check your CD key. This catches a lot of people out.

Also, test with BW to make sure it isn't your ISP playing a few tricks (such as NAT)..

Thanks for the link, that's given me a couple of things to try.

I have only being trying to connect to BW servers (naturally), do BW servers have the OSP things installed?

We do run the OSP mod, but the extra anti-cheat protection is not enabled, so you don't need the extra .pk3 refered to in that FAQ.
