Q3 crashing

Roughly every 5 mins of playing Quake3 online my computer freezes and i have to reset. Ive taken out all extra Pak files to see if that was the problem but its not and the only change ive made since this problem has arisen is the instilation of DirectX 7a to my comp so I think this may be the prob. What I want to know is if i reinstall Windows will it revert back to the windows default DirectX or will no change be made?

Any other suggestions to resolve my problem would be greatly appreciated.

No it won't revert but if you hunt around Micro-shite's site they do have an FAQ about how to purge DirectX from your system so you can re-install what ever version you want!
Hope this helps - but what grafix card you got? I don't know of anyone having problems with DX7a.
