Q2 on Win98

One of my friends can't seem to get Quake 2 to work on his machine, he says that it comes up with something like "cannot be installed on 98, only on 95 or something" does he need to apply the 3.20 patch b4 it will work??
any help?

Q2 on w98

are you sure it didn't say cannot be installed on this language version of win98 coz i had this prob when trying to install q2 for first time u can get round it by going into my computer/control panel/keyboard and make sure that english/british is selected as language not english/usa
click on add and select from the list english/british and you will need you win98 disk in drive when its loaded up english/british you will then have to delete english/usa
it does this to stop peeps in america from using the british version but as you can see its easy to get round
lemme know if this solves your problem
BTW you only need 3.20 if you are gonna play online otherwise you dont need it to play stand alone game

Regional settings in control panel have to be english(united kingdom) as well.
