hi all,

For some this isnt needed, but it's for the new people around.

L: The Lightweight Service Bot
Q: The Heavyweight Service Bot

Before you can be auto voiced or opped in a channel where Q or L is, you need to get an auth name. Creating a new auth is quite simple.

Change your IRC nickname into the name your new auth name should look like then type:

/msg Q HELLO user@mymailhost.xx user@mymailhost.xx

The bot will reply with:
-Q- Hello, "your current IRC nick". A new user account has been created for you, with nick "your current IRC nick".
-Q- OK, Your login information has been sent to "user@myhost.xx". please check your email for further instructions.

And an Email with further instruction has been sent to your Email adress, this also includes your temporarily auth password.

The next step is to get auth with the bot (Q), it's simple:

/msg Q@CServe.quakenet.org AUTH <authname> <password>

Q's message should be like:
-Q- AUTH'd successfully.
-Q- Remember: NO-ONE from QuakeNet will ever ask for your password. NEVER send your password to ANYONE except Q@CServe.quakenet.org.

Now we're almost finished, we still have to set a newpass.

/msg Q NEWPASS
  1. <new password> <new password>

  1. Q's reply:
    -Q- OK, password changed.

    Forgot your auth password?

    /msg Q REQUESTPASSWORD <user@myhost.xx>

You'll recieve a mail with your auth name and password shortly.

For more information you can visit the official site: www.quakenet.org

I've made a doc file with all the commands of Q an L, if you're interested you can Email me: damage@barrysworld.com

maybe it's a good Idea to make it sticky *hint*
