heard some opinions from US Lancelot server players ....

IT SUCKS :D

snipers own .......
You cant win against them
You're always killed by someone who's 10 lvl's higher
and you have like 1s due to all the heal for con payments :D

Pretty much what I expected. I can already see it infront of me: Group A pulls the hardass mobs from hell, up sneaks the minstrel/bard/healer, mezzes the whole lot and sits down to watch the mob eat 'em.

I've actually heard quite the opposite.. very few play snipers. but it's true that you die alot, economy is hard because you have to buy back your con all the time. but as to who's killing who, that really breaks down to the situation. an armsman can hide behind a rock/tree, jump out and basically own a red caster and get a ton of xp.

i've heard alot of funny stories :)

but the pvp server ain't for everyone tho..

Personally I thin it'll be FUN! ;)

If you group with someone thats a complete ass... You kick him out and bash his brains in ;) (or is that on a timer :rolleyes: )

From the things I hear, I cant wait to play it with a couple of guildies...

the harder it will be to reach 50 the better imo.
my only concern is the balance, ie. owning snipers... but I donno.
keep in mind they are still only testing it.

A colleague of mine at work who plays us side, says it is alot of fun although very different to standard play. As mentioned everyone is skint because of con payments, majority of players are the 3 main tanks , arms, hero, warriors , skalds and clerics, with a few zerkers. Most people travel or stay in grps and generally the levels arent too high at the moment and although obviously high levels hit harder the level damage aadjustment has been removed so u can actually damage higher levels instead of missing all the time.
It is alot faster pace and the players who r there the majoroty are dedicated mature players and although there is obviously alot of killing going on , there is very little grief play

I dont get it....

First, there was EQ and UO. And everybody was like:"OMG! Playerkilling sucks!!! I´m tired of getting killed by JimmiPowerGamer over and over!"
Then, DAoC invented a way to deal with Playerkilling by channeling the playerkilling into the frontier zones. And everyone was like: "YAY! Finally they found a way to get rid of Playerkilling! COOL!"
Then, DAoC "invented" PvP Servers. And everyone is like:"Hey, look, COOL! Finally I can kill my realmmates! Now THIS is s real improvement of the game!"

Thorwyn, there's a difference between choosing for a PvP server, or being forced to play on a PvP server...

As far as I know, there's nothing you can do about PvP kills in EO or UO (dunno, never played them ;) ) But with DAoC you can choose to play on a dangerous PvP server, or on a 'normal' server...

And as for lvl 50's ganking level 10's, dont think that'll happen (much)... They get no experience for those kills, and I think not even points (not sure on that one though)...

All in all, I'm looking forward to it... It'll be a different (more exciting) way of life... I definitly think that it'll be hard for people to level once the server has been running for a while...

PBT? and Pets that can OWN orange (and probably in PvP, reds)...

I mean, as a theurgie, you AE root the bunch, and you start sending your friends (e.g. pets)... Ice beasts for the casters/healers (nice they cant do anything ;) ) and earth pets for the tanks...

Its the only class that can send a lot of pets after someone...

It's a pretty nice choice, and its one of the few classes that gets self-bladeturn at level 5 (actually level 2 of earth, but you need 5 to be a Theurgie)...

I think Ice / Earth theurgies will own in the beginning, but it'll get a lot harder for them once mezz / stun / etc gets better...

Agree, in the early stage classes like theurgists together with pure tanks will perform the best, so they're obvious choices to start playing on a new server that'll get wiped in some weeks anyhow.

On the other hand stealthers are very hard to start with and in a harsh PvP environment I can imagine in the low lvls it's simply horrible to survive.

It's going to be hell to join if you aren't a serious powerleveler.. unless guilds get very very organised...

Imagine if a handful of people gain 5-10 lvls on everyone and then just go round xp killing them all, especially with aoe spells........

another reason why snipers won't be so good is, with people having no money, how are you going to buy arrows lol

well personally i think i would go skald\minstrel, or failing that maybe stay as nightshade :) i love my shadey :D

Thats basically stupid idea of gaining exp from RvR keels... since you cant TOTALLY level from it. You dont get money or drops. so youre without anykind of weaponry. And guilds are even more affected then than now. Lower costs or give 10g x Level money every ding ;-)

Don't think the class breakdown list in any way shows what class is balanced and which is not. I'll bet you money that a ton of those guys that chose the skald chose it only because it is dubbed one of the 'rvr-god' classes. You will see all kinds of situations and ambushes and crap on mordred that not any class can prepare for, this i tell you ;)

Sanya even posted herself that people should not use the class breakdown list of what is balanced and what is not.

actually a nice way for mythic to solve this would be making the PvP a rpg server..... would defenetly add an edge to standard roleplaying if you where able to kill eachother :), but generally Im of the same oppinion of Thorwyn, sure Im gonna try it but I´d rather have an rp server than a PvP serveratm, I am SO tired of the guys ingmae going

**** sends "D000d I need res"
you send "where are you"
**** sends "Im at catas"
you send "sorry mate, am in mid chain can´t leave"
**** sends "man y0u suxx0r"

(you get the idea)

rp server is defenetly what I want

thing is with an RP server, you need people (as in GOA employees) to be around; making events happen, keeping an eye out for non-RP names, making sure people actually are to some degree roleplaying....
Given GOA don't seem to have the staff to make events happen on more than two of their servers, atm, what are the chances of a full RP team?

the names thing could be solved by making an ingame support on the rp server, and besides once we get it here GOA prolly has the neceassry employes, :)

I know not all people wanna roleplay, but I´ll bet you my underwear (or something similarily uninviting) that there will be at least one PvP-RP server in .us, the possibilities are just too big to ignore it ;)

I'd be interested in starting a earth/air theug in the pvp in stead of the earth/ice on i got atm.
and at least being a caster u dont have to worry about buying armor/weaps :)

I'm not sure what i'd do. Either play something seriously tough (hero perhaps) or something seriously damaging (infiltrator/caster).
Frankly i think the best would be a server ilke we have atm, but where cross-realm grouping is possible. i.e. you have the same situation as right now, but you can group with any realm. Problem with that i guess is itemisation, questing, and trainers...
