Taken from news on main DAOC europe site -

"At the time we are writing this news, no characters are above level 45 yet. However, many players broke through the level 40 barrier yesterday and Camlann has only been open for 3 days !"

I then point you to this article at the top of the page-
http://firingsquad.gamers.com/news/newsarticle.asp?searchid=4453

Comment: Only a paltry 86 consecutive hours. I've sat at my

havent died yet.

Gawd, I'm sorry but I would never want to be lvl 40+ in 3 days, or 4 days, hell or even 1½ weeks.

Did you fanatics ever hear of the word fun? How fun could it possible be to sit in one spot for 12 hours killing the same mob over and over and ovar just so you can be lvl 40+ in 3 days?

STEP OUTSIDE THE BOX!

I'm not sure if some of you know this but (hell, I highly doub't someof ya know it) there's a place called outside. There are parks, and stores, and movies and people. All of these things can be seen anytime. I dare you...get up...get dressed, please, go outside and LIVE! For some of you I think going outside and doing something social with the real world would be a bigger accomplishment that getting to 50 in 1 day!

you know, everyone dont like to go outside and smell the flowers

ppl do what they want and if they want to lvl to 50 in one day you shouldnt whine about it

we dont whine when you go to the park or whatever you do,do we?

It scares me that people put so much weight on something so temporary as a game. I can't see how playing 15+ hours a day can help a persons job/school/family life at all.

I simply feel sorry for everyone who has to interact with these people in real life as it must be difficult to speak to someone who really does LIVE in a fantasy world.

Worst of all, school hols coming soon for thousands of spotty kids all over the UK, means even the uberest PvPer might find problems getting a parking space on Camlann over x-mas. Unless of course these sad ppl never log out (which is probably the case)

----------------------------

The fact is, it is temporary, and some people want to get as much fun out of it as they can, before it ends :)

I think its quite amazing that these people got to lvl 40+ in such a small time, I am not jealous, but I don't think they are sad either as it doesnt take a lot of them 12 hours or something stupid of playing to get a lot of xp (zerg exp?) ;)

Grats to the people who got high levels :) Have as much fun as you can everyone ! Cos eventually as we all know the game will end :(

End the Whining, go have fun in your own way :)

ps: Real life, at least where I live is pretty shitty tbh. It can be pretty temporary if you go to the city to watch a film, and get attacked in the street or something. Staying in a playing a computer game, instead of going out and getting pissed all the time might be sad to some people. But I like it :p (well staying in and getting pissed playing a computer game) hehe

Sorry for the long post, but no daoc = bored

Peace :)

As it is with most games (not only MMO ones), the people with the most time at their hands and the willingness to dedicate this time to a single or a few game will 'achieve' the most in ranks, lvl, ...

Its their way of having fun so let them be. If people neglect school or anything for it, you may not agree on this from a personal base but its their decision, a stupid one maybe but still.

As for putting weigth on things ... all things are temporary. My band & music mean everything to me but face it ... it will end some day but while I'm a it ... it has to be fun ... it has to be loud :p

Basically, its the same as dedicating time to a game. Let the people have fun at what they want ... RL or fantasy :)

So what if someone wants to PL to 50 when a new server opens. Who is anyone to be arrogant and judgmental and say "they are sooo sad!!!" etc....

Everyone gets their kicks in different ways, some enjoy going out and drinking beer. Some enjoy playing a game flat out to be uber. Who is to say who is doing the 'right' or 'normal' thing. Some of you people should get off your high horses and realise not everyone wants to live their life like you.

Yeah we should all go out every night drinking life shorteningly stupid amounts of alcohol. Then we should gauge the enjoyment of the previous night by its inverse proportionality to how much of it we remember in the morning.

Is this roughly the activity all you 'get a life' ers are encouraging all these people who enjoy gaming more than you do, to do?

Maybe to some, but not to all I hope.
I like the way you put it tho :p

you should try it its great fun :)

No realy, i know people who play on the U.S. servers that, take sick days to play after a new patch, one i know has been fired cause he was always late and fell a sleep at work, since then he has 6 lvl 50's and no job, and no friends anymore
I dunno but my all night benders dont seem to do that much dmg

\edit hit submit by mistake

yep, playing to 50 as fast as they can is as worthy an activity as any...

doing it to the extent where you lose your job/wife/family/friends...

but this lot have only been playing nonstop for a few days :) I'm sure they'll all take a break (a well deserved one) when they hit 50.

Now, there is a difference between getting yourselve to 50 because you enjoy doing that sort of thing... and coming here going "nah nah! look at me I'm 50" :)

I get the impression that the server is Guild rather than player run.

The "We are gonna be the uber guilds" are all going flat out to just try and be that. That means massive groups designed to get xp as fast as possible, rather than groups to socialise and have fun.

The idea being that the real fun (for them) will start when they get there high levels.

difference between the average and good players in PVP is that the good players know how to xp, be efficient, initialise groupleader ship, understand game concepts, and able to analyse best xp routes. it's just like a stockmarket, 2 players start with same amount of money but after a few days the other one comes out tons richer than the other.
