Putting Things In Perspective...

This is a special little post going out too all those people that Lurrrveeeee to whine at GOA about the speed at which they translate those patches...

Porn!

Yeah, i pity those poor fools. Thats what? The second patch for the game? Third? Either way its nothing compared to the number that DAoC recieves, and we only have to wait 1-2 months between patches those poor, poor people have been waiting years now.

Anyway, just to put things into perspective for you ;)

And?

Doesnt change the fact that GOA are useless muppets.

Cant even keep a billing system working properly after having something like 18 months to get it right - youd think that might be important to them.

I'm not saying GOA do a great service, i'm just saying that in comparision to other online games they do a fairly respectable job.

And just tell me of those 18months exactly how many times has the billing system gone down (Not including the rush for SI)

Firstly - that's simply irrelevant and a terrible principle to boot. I don't play <insert game with worse customer service>, so I don't actually care if they're good or bad compared to GOA.

Secondly... the billing system has never been reliably up since the day the game went live. End of story.

Well the thing about patches is if they were adding new things to the game with each patch, that way we would be excited about the amount of things coming into it. Instead 90% of Mythics patches are only correcting mistakes and bugs that they put into it in the first place.

ehh? MORE?

more stuff= more bugs :(

OT perhaps but....

How many would pay for a expansion that fixed all major bugs?
I WOULD! :p

They do a better job than the company behind Legend of Mir - but since that appears to be the single worst supported subscription based game available its nothing to be proud of.

Lets see it was down for 48 hours+ this weekend.

About a week ago I received the standard "your account expires soon" mail, popped onto the website to fix it the next day and - down.

Hopefully that account is now set to auto-renew, at least that normally works reliably.

Maybe for you, I've never had troubles with the subscription system, I know they’re having troubles now but it mostly 'caused by BiBit :\. And ofc. the great SI down period which sucked but I think they've learned from that experience.

You view on this is subjective, I bet of you did an analysis of the subscription pages downtime since DAoC release in EU would be around 90% and it's the SI and the current issue that brings uptime down below 95%.

It’s not perfect, a good (perfect) service needs approx. 98%+ uptime, but it isn’t that bad either imo., I just hope BiBit fix their problems fast so peeps can re-subscribe.

I have been largely happy with GOA and never had issues with the subscription page.
But this latest downtime for the subs page, regardless if it's their fault must be a nightmare for regular players.

I fear if this goes on for more than a few more days, people may well leave for greener pastures, which would be very sad, as I really like DAOC.

What's more annoying for me is I've recently managed to convince a few of my RL friends that MMORPGs might be fun to play and even convince them that it's not heresy to pay a monthly subscription for a game.
But if they go out now and buy it, it won't work...:(
Or maybe it will, but maybe they have to log into the subs page to start playing?

Thats kind of like saying it doesn't matter if I kill someone because<insert serial killer> killed more people than me.

Another post on a similar line so, again; I've never had trouble with GOA, or their subscription service (automatic renewal!) and their responses have always been polite and prompt.

I thought of saying that but, in this case it's so blatantly true that you don't even need to exaggerate it ;)

About the billing system - Yeah, "maybe not for you" is all very well, but unfortunately the "you" in question is pretty-much every other player. I won't bring the opening-of-SI debacle into it, because there were at least extenuating circumstances there. (although, again, I disagree that they should be forgiven since they had god-knows how long to prepare for it.)
If it's always worked fine for you - well, bully, I'm genuinely glad to hear that it's not as bad as it might be. But just because it works for some, or even the majority, of people - it should work for everyone. With a standard browser, no connection problems, no credit card problems or any difficulty using any other pay-online system anywhere ever, I don't think it's my fault if GOA's account management has always been problematic for me.

uhm no it aint?
How good someone service is related to how good the service of everyone else is. That isnt the case with murder. You use it with games aswell or is comparring daoc with other mmorpg's and saying daoc might have faults but its the best out there atm wrong? Because if doing it with goa's service is wrong its also wrong with games and every other kind of comparison you do:p.
