Push "play" and nothing!

I have played my witchhunter to rank14 and everything has been working fine up until a few days ago. Suddenly now when i push play on the patcher or try going directly thru war.exe theres nothing... screen goes black for a few seconds and it drops to desktop. I have read around on this forum and on the warhammer alliance forum. I have seen lots of people with similar problems but they usually get an error message to. I have tried updating my gfx, my directx and basically everything else i have read on forums. And still i cant figure anything out. I have no clue what to do. All I havent tried is mailing support, but a generic reply probably wont help me much either. And i repeat it worked fine up until a few days ago. I suspect one of the small patches might have had its share in f'ing this up. Im still at a loss on what to do. Any people with similar problems? Any suggestions?

Tried allowing war.exe in your firewall if you have one?

yeah, seems theres loads of people with the same problem. I'll have to wait for a fix from mythic, as its probably not a fault from my side(worked fine before) but rather something they have f'ed up in one of the small patches they have released.

Ok, My problem is now fixed. I have to disable my soundcard everytime i play to get into the game. Having no sound sucks, but my mp3-player makes up for it

I get the same sympton if I have my Zalman stereo video drivers enabled.

Same here, got a new comp yesterday, installed WinXP on it (not a big Vista fan), and nothing happens when I press Play..

do you have any addons installed? I had a similar issue and it stopped when i removed all my addons.

No addons installed, this is a completely fresh installation of WAR on a brand new and formatted NTFS harddrive under WinXP 32 bit.

Tried disabling sound card, tried disabling Catalyst A.I (as someone suggested in the linked thread), and tried reinstalling sound card drivers. Nothing works..

Solved on above mentioned system setup by doing a full reinstall of Direct X drivers, not just the 9.0c package you can download, but the full monty. Hope it helps for ppl with similar problems.

i bought the game today done the registry stuff activated key etc selected server and made a charecter , but whne i click play it goes to the loading screen and then back back to charecter select , ive tryed installing direct x again , and i exceeed system requirements
