I haven't played in a few Months so i decided to re-install Q3 and blast around the FFA Servers

Now in Point Release1.32 i think <-- the new one punkbuster is in there and installs .. So i enabled this and proceeded to ping a few servers in ASE ...

OK it was fine i was fragging away then all of a sudden i was botted from the server i went back to the mail menu and the message was .. Duplicated CD Key you have been banned by Punkbuster for 5 mins ... My Copy is a fully retail Copy of Q3 bought when it first was released ... Does this mean someone is useing the same CD key as mine ??? If so i think this is Crap Considering i bought my copy and they must have a warez copy useing my CD Key

Its happened 4 times now .. twice last night on the Jolt FFA

Is this a bug or is it a standered function of Punk Buster

Ive not had that myself, though i've had some bloody terrible lag on Jolt ffa since the latest patch. I cant decide if its PB or just BT having a frenzy

Problems with authorisation servers are not uncommon.
It's possible that your CD key was logged by the authorisation server, but had not reset when you quit (or more likely to happen if you crash) and so it thought you were still online. If it happens again and you've been on another server recently, try waiting 5 mins for the authorisation server to update and recognise that your nolonger in-game. If it happens all the time for no apparent reason, i.e. the first time you load up q3 that day, its possible someone else has your CD key i spose. Do you have a firewall? Did you ever send anyone or post your q3config.cfg anywhere in the early days of q3 (in the eaarly patches your CD key was contained within the .cfg file) ? You could also delete the CD key file, load q3 and re-enter it from fresh, as CD key files can and do become corrupt.

I only just installed Q3 and it happens pretty much every night .. I have tryed re-installing again but its still the same ..

Yes i have a Firewall , but have only just installed it as my pooter was tampered wiv from a blueyonder IP :\

Seems weird .. maybe i'll go buy the game again least that might cure it

I've heard some people saying that 1.32 is laggy, and teh gh3y, but others say it makes no difference... I'm worried for when my regular server switches to the new release

How does punkbuster affect the authorisation stuff? It's allways been there, so why would it now become more effective/sensitive with PB there? Anyhow, i've heard that for the first 30 minutes of a game, PB communicates with the PB server, using up bandwidth... I'm just hoping that this doesn't mean that my 1337 56k doesn't become laggy all of a sudden

If i was getting errors about CD key in use, i'd email/write to Activision, telling them the situation. If you're telling the truth, then in your situation i'd be furious. There's no way i'd spend 20 quid on a new copy of Q3, if i'd done nothing wrong - Even if i had to march into Activision's UK headquaters(wherever it may be), and argue with lots of people, i'd make sure i got a working CD key!

Hitman if you've just installed a firewall, it could be related. PB could quiet possibly require a seperate port than the usual q3 ports. Have you checked the pb readme or their webby?

Yeah, I'm still playing Q3. Didn't play last season at all though (just gone) as I've been pretty busy... generally trying to play a bit more again now, although it's a tad embarrassing.

might be of some use. It sounds like either something isnt enabled properly, or your firewall is blocking something it shouldnt (or of course someones got your cd key .....). Sorry I can't be of much more help right now, but ive had quite some time out from q3 ........... although im tempted to come back and gauntlet Wazzerphuk some more

heheh, cant deny it, I have been tempted to get my gauntlet out again, but i dont think i can face the elitest BS and constant winging that comes with it Oh for the good old days of q3ctf1, 3 and 4 in the leagues, naivity about 'tweaking' configs and only the belgians ping's to moan about
