Punkbuster Situation

I understand that Punkbuster has an "optional" mode? So, it doesn't kick people for not using it etc - but so you can have it running.

Would it be an idea to use this mode?

Firstly, teams would then be able to point to their authentication as proof of their virtue .

Secondly, this would give clans/people time to get used to running PB and to iron out any issues they have with it.

Perhaps after a specified time - full PB usage could be returned.

The powers that be (referees/web site etc) would probably have to promote PB usage - so that people do not just ignore the issue until full usage is imminent.

well the points against the above idea have to be:

- it may well still kick out innocent people who do use it
- those who are/may be cheating obviously won't be using it....

maybe im naive but i think we should play without it until its problem-free and rely on players to report cheats to refs, who can do a chase-mode spectate to see if anything bad happens.

Punkbuster even when set on its light mode seems to be kicking people off some servers. bah.

Plus you only accuse people of cheating after a match normally when your whining about losing, and when the match is over the cheat will have already got away with it. PLUS anyone who doesn't use punkbuster (Maybe cause it just hates them ) will be labelled cheats.
