Punch-Drunk Love (Adam Sandler 2)

I got hold of this on r1 last week and all I can say is that it is the most original film i've seen in ages (and also one of the best).

Unfortunately it's one of those films that is almost impossible to describe. Sandler plays an emotionally/mentally challenged small business owner who is continually abused and hounded by his seven sisters. His life is thrown into chaos when he is threatened by an anonymous individual after phoning a sex chat line(he only phoned as he has no one to talk to). This is until he meets Lena, an equally strange woman who changes his life.

Be warned though, do not expect a typical Sandler picture. There is none of the usual daft humour we come to expect in one of his films. It is a love story with a difference and doesn't try to be a comedy in anyway.

You can safely disregard any thoughts of sandler being a one trick pony. He plays the role brilliantly.

The film is only available on R1 as far as I know although. I have done the film absolutely no justice but I can only say it is well worth buying if you are a fan. But more than that if you just want a change from the usual hollywood love crap that we have seen so much of recently.
