Public games are crap???

How many times have i heard that said? LOADS
What makes a good game? Evenly matched teams of players that know/want to do certain roles. While i agree this in practice is impossible with so many people joining and leaving games there IS a solution.

There are private clan servers hanging around with no-one in them so at a predetermined time every night the people that wish to play an "organised" mixed scrim meet in a channel on irc and, if there are enough people to play, sort out an even team (should really take no longer than 10mins) then use one of the private clan servers to play a couple of maps on.

Well What do you think?

This is a very good idea. The number of times i've heard people whine about 'sorting' out the teams is unbearable. Like ffs, how can u when the teams ARE even (10 vs 10) except skillwise. Your likely to get accused of imbalancing player numbers by swapping teams, or no-one will listen to your encouragement to sort them out.

What Ego has said in my opinion will allow players to play against and with better tribed persons who actually have roles such as Defence (something that you don't see much on a pubby). Not only would this improve players skillz but allow for decent 'public' games *Although they will be on a priv server*

If you want to experience the pleasure of a game on a public server, save yourself time..put ground glass under your eyelids and blink. Lots. This will give you the same feeling that public server play will.
Ok I hate pubbies if you havent guessed. But one thing - we are all lucky to be able to play on private servers. Just a point .

hmm, why do i play on em? coz i like playing tribes! simple! I was mearly pointing out the fact that LOTS of people hate pubic games so i was just making a suggestion to improve them. I find myself playing more and more on US and Euro servers nowadays as do many members of HH and cF, surely this only retards UK tribes as more top tribes players go abroard to play reducing quality opposition.

Nah I agree with you - it just makes me laugh that every other week you post on here cos something on the pubbies pisses you off. You a masochist? hehe . I know exactly what you mean. Well whenever I am in irc, and there are a lot of people up for it I run private games from time to time as you probably know. If the (you know which) server is free and I am there etc etc then grab me and I will set up a game anytime nps.

My recommendation is to join a tribe that plays lots of matches, so you don’t need to play on pubs.

Or use the BW League servers for pickup games..meet in #uktl at say 10pm every night and go for it...that's what they are there for.

Its very possible to have a good game on public servers but the best public games dont get close to a good clan match.

Bollox, I think the skill level is getting so high in tribes now that a lot of the public games are getting close, maybe, I don't think players need to be in a clan to enjoy tribes....... why just the other night I played on an excellent Stonehenge on an open it was 1-0, 1-1 2-1 3-1 3-4 etc etc and finished 8-7.....

You can get some great games on public, you also get some crap games but half the fun for me is shouting abuse at my monitor because of what some muppet just did or didn't do

I disagree with you there Nearly. My personal all-time best game was a public server match of Snowblind. I have had a fair number of very good tribed games (hell even a few excellent ones) but I still consider that one game of Snowblind back in January to be one of the best I had ever been in.

Pickup games are pretty common here in the US. I figured that it was everywhere...

One of these days I'll have to take a peek into UK pubs and see what everyone is so pissy about.

There are clowns on just about every US Renegades server that I've been on that insist on TK'ing the entire match, I hate them like I hate rubbing salt into a dog bite. I hope that one day they'll grow up.
