PSP update problem

right have a usa 1.5 psp but am wanting to play GTA uk version on it but when trying to update the screen goes red and nowt happens this is the same with prince of persia . is the game it self b0rked or am i blessed with a none upgradeable 1.50 psp

Are you updating it with the US patch? The uk one won't work on a US psp.
