My view so far:

Pros

  1. Nice Screen
  2. Good selection of Games
  3. Powerful
  4. Nice Interface
  5. Looks great
  6. Works well

Cons

  1. OMG the fingerprints
  2. Not too sure about analogue pad

Just considering what else I need, maybe a larger memory card and one of those screen protectors things...how many of you have a screen protector?

The volume doesn't seem very loud on the MP3 side of things.

I bought a screen protector and have been playing mine for a few months. I have got 1 scratch on the protector so its doing a good job. It doesnt really mess up the picture quality much. I think the only problem is getting it on without trapped air pockets. I went through 2 protectors before I got it right.

I also bought a rubber sleeve for the main body and thats good as it stops it sliding on the table if Im watching a film.

I do think the sound socket on the bottom was a mistake as I like to prop mine at a 45 degree angle for films and you cant easily use the headphones that way. I expect theres a holder on the market by now.

I think my next buy will be the keyboard for t'internet etc as its a bit of a fiddle using the txt screen.

Pros:

1. Great screen
2. Feels classy to hold
3. Films/MP3s/Photos/Games
4. Online or Adhoc multiplayer
5. Cracked ;)
6. Multiregion games
7. Almost as powerful as a PS2

Cons:
1. $ony FW updates
2. Most will have dead pixels
3. Hurts hand after prolonged play.
4. 2 Gig Mem Stick Duo is very expensive.

Make sure you have turned off the MVL option in the Sound menu.

AVLS is OFF.

I picked up a little kit in GAME today that included a screen protector, hardly noticeable.

I would agree about the memory although with the success of the PSP it will hopefully result in the price of MS dropping........did see a 4gb MS for £336 :eek6:

I've also not noticed any dead pixels...yet :)

I was also wondering if any of you convert DVDs to PSP, if so what software do you use?

Also could you post links to good PSP websites?

That guide makes it look more complicated than it really is, I think. The final results are as good as UMD's. Even divx come out very good.

I had trouble converting WMV videos ive got though.

I use Imtoo DVD converter and Imtoo video converter
You can convert pretty much any format to mp4 (imtoo.com)
I paid 30 quid for this.

They provide a free psp visdeo manager for shuffling films onto and off the PSP memory card.

Im getting 4 episodes of battlestar galactica on a 1gb card.

Those 4gb cards are a bit pricey.

i use psp 9 to do mine, seriously 4 eps is a tad pants, use mono sound and a lower bit rate, to squeeze more on. its a hand held screen not a 60" plasma/projector or some thing. and makes long train jorneys less boring.
