Right this one is a bastard so far.

My mate has found a website that streams all of our footy matches for free (PM me if you want the address) the only problem being we have to watch it on our pc/laptops.

Now I know I can just plug straight into my telly and watch it on the big screen like that but we don't want the wires and ball ache of this everytime a match is on.

So today I decided to put linux on the PS3, it all installed fine but wouldn't connect wirelessly so I took it off again due to not knowing where the fuck to start with trying to find the problem. I installed the Yellow Dog version because that is what the step by step guide was using on Tweaktown but apparently the PS3 2.0 update knackered up networking on the YDL version.

Is there a better way of doing this, is there a better version of Linux I can use?

Does anyone have any pointers or links on this?

TYIA.

I don't want wifi but as I got YDL it was my only option.

I do want something that will just work wired.

After some searching it seems Ubuntu is the best way to go, already installed it once and then the PS3 couldn't find it, ran from the disc and its slow as fuck.

Its driving me mental now, just wish I could put XP on it (without the need for running it through Linux)

YDL does work with a wired connection.

Ta chum.

I'm fighting a losing battle for what I want though, after searching it appears that doing all this to stream football won't work as the sight needs IE to run. Also after reading some more apparently XP runs like a turd on the PS3 so its back to square one.

:(

Or....Switch to Virgin phone + tv + BB XL and you get setanta for free :p

Still does not get you enough footy matches, and the quality of channels on virgin is awful, and we still only get BBC Hd as the only HD channel.

The streamed footy is stuff that isn't on any of our channels, 3pm Saturday matches for instance

Agreed.

Tried that program sweetheart and you need something called Wine to run it and Wine won't run with the PS3 processor.

This may lose my modship but heres a link to the site I am on about (although can't see whats wrong with linking to it) -

LiveFooty V 2.1-|Free Sport Stream|Live Footy|Live Football|Free|Premier League|Gratis|BundesLiga|LFP|EPL|CL|SPL|Seria A|Beijing Olympic 2008|Cricket

Scroll down for all that days matches, it works great actually, maybe better if you get there slightly early.

Tremlar... other than smelling... You should have come to IRC after your match

When I load that up in firefox, it simply bitches that I need "SopCast"

Software Download - Free P2P internet TV | live football, NBA, cricket

Try that?

You could of course just be right... but that could mean the universe coming to an ungodly end... so I'd rather we kept trying ;)

I'd say you should go to myp2p Trem, it will tell you what software you need to stream their matches. You won't need to use IE, and their are linux versions of some of the programs.

Sopcast will not install on Yellow Dog, neither will the flash thing that is needed for some of the streams.

Best duck soon, the universe will be ending pretty sharpish.

:D

It's a Windows program (can be overcome) built for a x86 system (can't be overcome easily). So end verdict is that no, you can't run IE on your PS3.

That doesn't run the IE engine at all, just fools websites into thinking you're using IE so they don't deliberately send you different content.

ah thought it did
