You can use any USB headphone and mic set, personally I am about to buy the sennheiser one, cant remember the model but it comes with a usb soundcard into which you can plug the headphones (they are 3.5 mil jacks).

Think it is the PC 156 USB or the PC 166 USB I want.

I connected my old Logitech USB headphones but only the mic works. I presume the PS3 is just using it for voice chat, not main game sounds. I can't find an option to use hedphones for main sound in the PS3 menu.

Help0r !!

I found this not sure if its practical for you but seems like a work round.

This headset has 2 seperate cables with 3.5mm plugs for the Mic and Headset Speakers. It also comes with a 3.5mm to USB adapter for use with the PS3. I connect the MIC 3.5mm plug into the USB Adapter (and that Adapter) into the PS3. I then go to the Settings and set the Output for the Mic to 'Default' from 'Logitech Headset' so that the all the sounds will come out the TV/Receiver. I them plug the other 3.5mm cable for the Headset speakers into the TV headset jack.

I setup this configuration because I have kids and can only play late at night due to work schedule. I hope this helps. If not post back and I will try to help describe the process better.

I have seen where some people have used a Plantronics Headset - you just have to make sure it has 2 seperate 3.5mm plugs and a USB adapter. Another solution out there is a $150 surround sound headset with mic that uses the Optical Out on the PS3.

My USB headphones are direct USB. No adaptors to/from jacks.

Failing that can anyone recommend a headset that accepts optical input or standard red/white leads ?
