I have read that the DIVX support is a full certification process but in the release notes I saw you cannot play back divx files older than 3.11 or greater than 2GB in size.

XviD support? As for DivX support its the same as X360. Given that 3.11 was never officially released by a company but rather hacked together. I'm using that's the reason.

I read a nasty rumor not from a source i would trust that said the PS3 will play blu ray quality divx but only ones downloaded from PSN. And then they said it will play all divx but only if you purchase an advanced licence only basic is free. Like i say nothing official.

Plays xVid as well as DivX and decodes 5.1 audio to. Screen size looks a lot better than the 360 to.

Eh? Can't be talking about my PS3 as it doesn't get hot enough to turn on the main fan, my 360 on the other hand gets hot enough to turn the steel struts of my av stand red

I've got some shares setup on my PC that are shared through Media Player 11. When I go through the XMB, the last option in the list is folders, I then see my shares and can browse from there.

I think you should be able to setup Playlists as well, which could be handy for TV shows for larger films that would have to be split in two in order to be under the 2GB limit.

Yeah i have similar but i tested with files on a disk key but when i browse to it it shows no files untill i back out hit triangle and select show all.

You need to get that bastard looked at asap then and have the new heatsink setup fitted. Mine is only hot enough to melt plastic at 100 yards since I had it fixed.

Why should I need to spend money fixing a design flaw? I solved the problem cheaply anyway, I unplugged the 360 from the mains and leave it that way

No, log a RROD fault with Microsluts and get it repaired for free. Just say it is intermittent and they will replace all the heatsinks with the new setup as a matter of course. Costs you nothing, cooler and a little quieter for free.
