Am i ok to plug my PS3 controller into my PC USB to charge it, cos the PS3 turns itself off b4 its charged?

would have thought so cause its just a standard usb so should be standard voltage

Tho i generally play with mine plugged into the ps3 so it dont uncharge

Yes.
USB power specification is 500mA @ 5v +/- 0.25v. PC USB sockets tend to output 5.2v so are very good at charging.
