PS3 - any pointers or things to avoid ?

i dont "do" consoles , and we're getting one for the sprog so anyone got advice on what to get, what to avoid, or anything else ?

Not really much to say. Make sure you get a big hdd in it. Rest is pretty standard. You gonna get psn+ for it?

Pay 40 quid a year or whatever get some free games each month.

Connect it to the Internet by cable rather than wifi.

Little big planet (think there is a sequel too)
Ratchet and Clank
Minecraft
Anything from the lego series of games (there are loads!)
There are the usual kids movie tie-ins, Wall-E etc, no idea if they are any good
Last of Us!

My brothers kids love mine craft and Lego games and Fifa. I bought them a PS3 in the summer they are 9 and 6

Ratchet and clank are really good too though they haven't got I to them. As they like playing together.

God of War (all of them)
I don't have to mention GTA V as that's just a bit too obvious.

On a serious note: I'm not sure how kid friendly LBP actually is. The game is fucking rage inducing

My nephew has mad a sick world in Minecraft. He made me sit through it and fly all over the stuff he made. The game itself is pretty boring, but kids seem to love it.

I ended up killing him which did not go well... Then he kicked my ass in Plants vs. Zombies, which was a pretty cool game
