PS2 online... help meh

Right i picked up the adapter recently - i have blueyonder broadband thru a cable modem... and it doesnt seem to want to play tries to connect but nothing happens!!

Any tips chaps?

how have you set it up?


modem --> router ----->PC an PS2?

or did you just conect the ps2 to the modem directly?

tried 2 types of setup

Unplugged cable from back of pc (that runs to the network card from the modem) and plugged this diectly into the ps2... i.e. cable modem to PS2

The other was pluggin modem into a hub and then running PS2 cable into hub as well - kind of the same as setup one but appeared more complicated due to more wires being required

If you haven't already, then make sure you hard reset your cable modem. (Off at wall, on again.) Most service providers only allow traffic from the network device that is currently plugged in, although a hard reset will usually allow a new network device to be recognised.

Not sure about BlueYonder, but NTL allow up to 3 distinct network devices to be registered on your modem.

Although the easiest solution would be to pick up a cheap router. Some of the Belkins can be got for around the £30-40 mark now.

But i believe its to do with a mac address that i need to register in blueyonder selfcare - so will do that and see what happens!

Register the mac address as you've said, then turn off the CM, plug it direct if you so choose, turn CM back on, all should work.

With BY the CM usually flashes lights if it's not configured to work with a certain piece of kit.
