As far as we can tell it's a big hub near to our network which is causing the problem.
Our servers and the new site are up and functioning normally.
To check for yourself do this:
Go to Start -> Run and type cmd in the box that pops up. Press Enter and you should get a black window which you can type DOS commands into.
Type tracert 193.252.123.177 (this is the IP for Prydwen, change the last 177 to 33 for Excalibur) and press enter.
You will then be taken one step at a time to the server and the latency at each hop will be measured. The numbers are the delay in milliseconds that the hop takes to deal with your request - with a good connection they should be in the 30-70 range.
If the problem is before it hits our network then the only thing to do is contact your ISP and get them to sort out the routing issue with whichever hop is causing the problem.

why is it never daoc's fault tht the network goes down

once again it is amazing how ALL players cant play, and we are told it is our networks that are the problem, and they all happen to crash all at the same time, and not daoc fault, we are from many different country's on lots of different networks.
(unless they all lead in to ONE big server) but they say contact ur ISP provider (why not just hold up ur hands and admit it is a problem, and that you are dealing with it)(as long as it is not down for a long period) i wont be asking for an extra day.

To many names of toons to list them all

Ranind 50 zerker
Renind 45 shamy
Godslittlehelper 50 sm
Godd 50 warr
Boneraiser 50 Bd

the list goes on :)

It´s not up to our ISP to sort out problems with routing to your servers. Its the one hosting that "big hub" usually referred to as router to sort out the problem. Wonder what a good laugh i would get if i called my ISP ( swedish based ) and ask them can you please fix this router in france. Seeing i can connect to other pages going through french routers it seems to be a more local problem than you imply it to be.

I know its probably not up to you what answer you give here and what to do but that answer you gave really got me confused. Seeing what I heard its people from ISP´s all over Europe and not just one ISP and still you blame it on our connections. For your information im at the moment on our own administered Class C net and i would have known fast if there was routing problems.
By the way my line of professsion is Network Administrator.

On the other hand maybe i just missunderstood your answer :) Let´s hope I did.

The last place I was able to trace to was OpenTransit then the ping gets bounced between 2 of their routers. To me, this implies that both of those routers are trying to work out how to get to the next router in the chain and hoping the other can make the connection. Seen this type of thing elsewhere.

So it seems to me its a hub/router after the OpenTransit one. Whether its another OpenTransit router or someone else's I have no way of knowing of course :)

Let me clarify. It's not your ISPs fault as it's not their equipment that's borked. However the equipment that has failed is also not in our network and therefore we can't fix it either.
When this happens, ISPs can contact the hub that has failed and advise them of the problem. When the people who administer these hubs get enough aggro from ISPs who are passing on aggro from their customers (i.e. you lot) they will sort it out. As it happens it is now sorted out however it's a general rule that the more reports the hub admins get, the more likely they are to sort it out fast.

contacting your ISP can actually work. I did it once, and went from a nauseating 500 ping and 50-80% loss, to no loss worth mentioning and 30-80 ping :)

Hostmaster@opentransit.net replied this to me last afternoon.

Hello,
Thanks to point out this issue.
It 's solved now, thanks to confirm us.
Sorry for this inconvenience

In future, for any routing or connectivity problem, please send your complaint directly to noc@opentransit.net.
Don't forget to give destination and source IP adresses for better troubleshooting.

Thanks

Regards,

Stephane Duverneix
IPTAC Opentransit team.

While trying to connecting to 193.252.123.177 in the france telecom network, most of Europe is reporting a loop at 193.251.241.98, the next address is 193.251.241.97 and it just goes into infinite loop there.

This problem has been reported from Norway, Sweden & Belgium.

Hope you fix this asap.

Best regards.
