Proxies

Seeing as the BW Forums list lacks any kind of related forum for my problem, I was wondering if any of you know of any decent proxies to use to connect to (a) game servers (especially Quake 2 and Half Life ones) and (b) general internet services (IRC, ICQ...)

I recently made the mistake of signing up for Clara Net's Freetime Unlimited. While it is probably one of the faster off peak free calls services, it lacks in application. It's a very cheap service for the speed, only £9.99 a month, but it more than makes up for that by banning specific ports.

For instance, I cannot use my Clara Net account for connecting to game servers, IRC, ICQ, MSN Messenger and FTP sites with random ports (I would include Napster but since I found Audiocatalyst I don't care :p).

I talked to Iain on #barrysworld today and he suggested writing one (or finding someone to do it for me) in C. So, if there are any of you willing to produce a proxy sans cheats (hence my hesitancy to use Nitro2 or Xania or...) then please please PLEASE get back to me :)

n4: What you want to do is perform port mapping. There's products out there that already do this, some routers and software like Winroute. Whichever way, someone else will have to host the hardware outside your connection.
