As you may be aware, Mattel have launched a huge recall covering some of their products including, but not limited to Polly Pocket and Cars toys. These are due to problems involving small parts such as magnets which may become detached and swallowed, and a high level of lead contained in the paint used.

I don't know if any or many of us lot play with (or of course, have kids that play with) these products, but I can't imagine anyone hasn't seen the news about it.

My point is this. Why can't we just let natural selection take it's course and let the stupid die like the stupid do?
Kids are kids, of course. But at the end of the day, kids will poke their Cars in other kids/their own eyes, and sodomise their brothers/sisters with a Polly Pocket, regardless of lead content or small parts.
Maybe they should make these dolls lifesize, eliminating the small part problems.
Either way, part of the natural process of life is the elimination of people, either due to old age, illness or accident. If we all wandered around the streets wrapped in Bubble Wrap, where cars are all limited to 10mph, we'd have quite a severe population issue.
Back in the day, all dolls were painted with enough lead to line a church roof, and kids ran around with scissors and knives. No-one batted an eyelid. I doubt many more were hurt than now.

But of course, if you see your kid sucking the lead off a dolly - please be sure to stop it!

I thought you just said you wanted natural selection to take it's course. Maybe you should let these stupid children die because they should know better than putting things that aren't food/drink in their mouth.

Apart from the fact that they could get sued for murdering a baby, isn't this exactly why they're recalling these products?

I want a Mexicana, but instead of peppers, can I have sweetcorn instead? Thanks. How long will that be please? Okay, thanks.

Because if anyone's kid in here popped it/got very ill due to lead-suckery or polly pocket-buggery, I'd feel rather guilty about it. Sort of a semi-disclaimer.

It's okay for random people's children to die because people on the internet are more supreme.

SAVE BABY MADELEIN!!!

No, just the people here. I care about some of those.

If you're gonna swallow a magnet, expect pain.

I dont think a child expects anything but happiness when its plays with the toys you buy it...

Parents need to take more responsibility for what they give their children to play with but they can't be expected to know the toy will give their child lead poisoning. Not all of them are chemists and can test for that sort of thing.

With regards to the small parts thing...well parents can't watch their children 24hrs a day....but then they shouldn't give them things they can choke on. Then again maybe you can't be expected that there are some hidden small parts that only a child will manage to break free and swallow
