Ok,
I bought Tribes 2 @ the weekend, and like most people have been unable to update / patch it to the latest version without it bitching about corrupt files, etc, etc, etc, everytime I try.
Anyways, after trying EVERYTHING, I think I've found the solution..
1) Remove your current Tribes 2 totally.
2) Click on Start -> Run, Type in
"NOTEPAD c:\windows\system.ini" Press Enter.
This should load up the system.ini file into notepad, look for an entry [vcache] if there is nothing underneath this entry add the following.
MinFileCache=4096
MaxFileCache=32769
3) Save the file (make sure it saves it as system.ini).
4) Reboot Machine.
5) Reinstall Tribes 2.
6) Patch the thing, It should work..
Soz, Windoze 2000 users I'm not sure if system.ini exists, or if there are any side effects of you changing it. Im sure this will work for Win 9x/ME..
Obviously do all this at your own risk ^^^, it worked for me
. Its due to the fact you've got a lot of ram in your system.
Hope it Helps....
