Heya all

Been in two minds about wheather to post this or not. But I figure even if 99% of people dont believe me, even if only 1% of the people who read this are better off for it, it will be worth it. Theres a chance that what I'm about to say is utter BS and I'll get laughed at, but I'm posting this on the chance that I'm right, and that I might help some of hte people who are having trouble getting the update.

ok so I was at my wits end, utterly annoyed at having to wait to get the patch I've been waiting for for the best part of this year for. I started up the patcher for what was going to be the last time, stuck some music on the media player and clicked on the upper progress bar, click click click, clicked and clicked and clicked. then it went into the same old routine. "5% - Mythic Update (Not Responding)". The inside of the window went white as per usuall. but i kept clicking, through the white of the window the upper progress bar popped back into vision, and the update continued. This went on the for the last 40 minutes, I've probably cut the life-span of me mouse by half but it worked, I have the update I've been struggling to get.

Just keep clicking in the window and it seems to kick the update back into action.

As I say, it may well be nothing, it might be that GOA did somthing that's suddenly made the update faster to download. if so, then good job goa! if not, then this might be a possible solution.

I know its a bit of a dodgy 'solution' but hey, it seemed to work.

If this helps anyone else please reply with the details, as I'd love to know if this is actually a way of getting it to work.

Good luck! :)

Yesterday the patcher was so slow because of all the people who were downloading the various patches they needed. Around 23:00 CET the load balancing process on the patchers went AWOL which further messed things up. Depending on when you connected you could either get a download speed up to 150Mb/sec (assuming your bandwidth is big enough ofc ^^) or 1kb/sec. This problem has been fixed and as the majority of people have downloaded all they need, you should find that the patcher starts patching faster than yesterday.

Yea, thats why I logged on in peak hours, hoping the connection would be faster, It wasnt for me, I spent 30-40 mins trying till I was gonna give up(the patcher didnt once in those 40 mins get over 10%), then i tried the above and it seemed to work.

As i say though it may well have been a fluke that I was getting DL speeds of a normal 2.8KB/S, and a co-incidence that clicking on the patcher solidly for 40 mins prevented me from getting the 304 or 201 error even once, but incase it wasnt I wanted to share the info with others to see if it was infact a way of getting the patcher to stop throwing up the 'Not Responding' messages.

anyway as i said im on peak rate phone calls at the moment, the fact that its costing me a fortune just to write this should show that I honestly believe this might help, but if it doesnt pwease dont flame me too much ;)

I've been trying all last night AND at work today and never manage to get past 2%.

I must confess to feeling a little frustrated now - as much at my own stupidity for not downloading it earlier, as at the fact I can't download it now.

I have only got dialup at work and at home, so I'll take my laptop and wireless PCMCIA card to Starbucks this evening and see if that helps any :)

I really hope it's sorted out by then too!
