Problems running game

Hi,

A friend of mine just bought DAoC, but after he installed it he gets the "Illegal Copy!" message, and then nothing happens when he double-clicks the DAoC icon again.

I got that message when I first installed the game, but after a few tries it worked. Unfortunately this isn't the case for my friend, and he's ready to take the game back to the shop for a refund.

He is definitely keeping the disc in the drive, and has the game installed to the default directory.

Can anyone help?

Just for the record, I don't need the cd in the drive to play DAOC.
And yes, It's an original version which I bought and It's got no dodgy patches on it...(apart from the official mythic ones ;))

No you don't need the disc to play, but the first time you run the game after installation your disc is checked.

The problem is it often thinks your original cd is a copy. It happened to me when I first installed the game, after a few tries it worked. But it happens all the time to my friend. He can't even get to type in his cd key and start downloading the patch.

It doesn't matter now anyway as he's taken the game back to the shop and got a refund :(

Well, since it's your friend... Might try using your CD-ROM drive in his computer, just to get him past the stage where it's checking the CD :)
