Problem with free level and mini-ding?

Apologies if this has already been covered but I've not seen a mention of it anyway.

Situation is, I log my L41 wiz in and get told I have a free level available. I click trainer and get the XP and it takes me to L42.56, enough for a mini ding as well.

Problem is, I get no mention of the mini ding or the 21 spec points I should have received as a result.

Are we not supposed to receive mini ding spec points if we use the free level or is it a bug?

i hade same prob on bb...loggd on at lvl 46 hade free lvl used it got to 47.6...so what u need to do is rethink so u get under miniding when using the free lvl

like halv a bub or so under...as i c it

It might be similar to RR's where if you get 2 at once it only levels you once till you get mroe rp. Try killing something worth xp and see if you get the mini ding then...

Had a similar thing trying to farm a level 11 trophy with a /levelled necro. Levelled him at trainer to 11 to get the quest (still had full xp bar), but as soon as I got any xp at all I dinged the next level...

Perhaps 1 kill will do it?

Gorryk has it exactly right. You can only raise one level at a time through being awarded XP. If you get enough XP at once to take you more than one level, you'll be at the correct level but without the spec points you should have got. If you go and earn even 1 XP though you'll immediately 'ding' your correct level and get your spec points.

Until the new level system came in, this was never an issue as XP caps prevented you from earning enough XP to take you over two level thresholds at once.

Sorted now, got my spec points by killing another mob.

i had this and all i did was CLICK on trainer again, and instantly got my mini ding points

Another thing concerning free levels.. Suppose I want to level my character exactly to 24, and I'm level 23. I kill enough mobs to ding 24 and get the message that I've a free level, blah blah blah. Ok, I wanna stay at this level so I'll just not use it... but wait, how exactly am I supposed to go use the skill points I just received if I'll instantly ding 25 when I click on my trainer? Is there a way to not receive the free level?
