i have partioned 10 gig to be only used by windows and more important aps...
i have a 70gig hd in my laptop

now.. when i check show hiddden files and all the stuff on my C drive (the 10 gig one) and do properties on all of the files i get about 5,5 gig in use... but when i do properties on my HD icon... it shows 8,2 in use..... i even turned off monitoring and all the other stuff to see what was causeing it

so where does this 3 gigs go ??
virtual memory ?

generally its temporary files, virtual memory etc.

but sometimes with FAT32 especially its an error in the filetables, a scandisk usually fixes it. also make sure yer recycle bin is empty.

Sound advice. Im guessing its 90%+ virtual memory, you should be able to change the amount and placement of the virtual memory in your settings somewhere to confirm this.

Windows wont show you the vmm file cause you would only go and do something silly like say 'Whats this 3gb file, lets move it to trashcan' ;)

Move the temp swap file to disk d: and should gain 1,5 gb.

10g is too small for your sys drive IMO.
