Problem controlling chars when running 2 copies of SI

I have a problem controlling my characters when running 2 copies of SI on the same pc. Regardless of which copy has focus, when I move one char, the second one moves as well - usually in the opposite direction.

Also when attemting to use mouselook the view just starts spinning around (and no I haven't been drinking!).

I've tried installing 2 copies of SI in different locations and remapping control keys for the two accounts but sitll get the same problem.

Any ideas?

i had this problem when running them both fullscreen and alt tabbbing between each one .
Switching to windows mode through the performance settings in game on them both solved it for me
