Well met fellow Midgardians.
I'm writing this post to clear a few things about our new guild out so that there will be no missunderstandings about us as players and our cause (some missunderstandings unfortunately have alreasy occured).
I myself (Oddgeir, lvl 50 skald) and my dear friend Heimer (lvl 50 runie) was previously part of the guild Morbid Angels which I'm sure that almost all of you know about. Due to some things that aren't the issue here we decided to leave MA and start our new guild. The thought was to keep it a rather small but tight one.
First of all, we both agreed that we wanted a latin name and we wanted something that showed we were true frighters of Midgard. The name we decided to go for was Pro Patria which means "For the homeland". Second of all we wanted our emblem to show that we were all swedes, hence we choose the colors yellow and blue. And third we choosed to emblem of Thor's Hammer since it is also the emblem of the realm (as on the Midgard banners).
Now to the missunderstanding part of it all... Appearantly there is some neo-nazi band calling itself Pro Patria (which I had no idea of), and some swedish nazis often uses the Thor's Hammer as a symbol (as necklaces and such). This appearantly led some other swedes to assume that we were some kind of nazi guild, which I must STRENUOUSLY point out that we are NOT.
Maybe I as a swede should have seen this coming, Sweden however is the country where it is considered racist to wave our flag and play our national anthem on our own commemoration day or other national holiday (the exception is when we are participating in some international sports event, then it is appearantly OK to do it). And the only country were the word patriot is being considered a curse far worse than the sexist words we call eachother every day (you know the ones I'm reffering too).
But once again I wish to assure you all that the homeland we refer to with our guild name is the realm of Midgard and nothing else, that the Thor's Hammer on our emblem is the symbol of Midgard and nothing else and that the colors of our cloaks is simply to show that we are a swedish guild and nothing else.
Pro Patria is For our homeland, Midgard. And the only races we might not like very much are those of Albion and Hibernia.
If someone still has a problem with this or is being offended by us, please let us know. Then we might have to reconsider. But the way we see it, no neo-nazis in the world have copyrighted either the words Pro Patria nor the Thor's Hammer and certainly not the swedish colours.
