Hi,

It's great that the bwq3l can award prizes to winners, but I'm a bit concerned about the way they're being distributed. For example the FFA League:

Division 1 & Overall Champion - DVD Player up to value of £300 + £50 HMV Vouchers (or similar) + £50 of BW Merchandise
Division 2A, B & C Champions - Choice of Razer Boomslang or £75 of HMV/Virgin Vouchers (or similar) + £25 of BW Merchandise
Division 3A, B, C, D & E Champions - Choice of Razer Boomslang or £50 of HMV/Virgin Vouchers (or similar) + £20 of BW Merchandise
Division 4A, B, C & D Champions - Choice of Razer Boomslang or £50 of HMV/Virgin Vouchers (or similar) + £10 of BW Merchandise

This means 90% of the prizes go to lower divisions, while the overall 2nd best player gets absolutely nothing. It's nice if you want to give less strong players something to fight for, I have absolutely no problem with that. The problem is that it becomes *very* tempting for any good player who is not the overall single best player to deliberately maneuver himself in a low division to win himself prizes easily. I have two razers already so np for me, but otherwise I'd regret being in div 1 where I can probably win nothing, while in div4x or something I could win myself a nice mouse easily.

Good points, we were partly constrained by what was specified in the prize budget (one big prizes, with smaller ones elsewhere) and to be honest there are only so many prizes we can give away.

At the end of the day, whilst somebody could try to position themselves in a better division for a prize, what they are going to win is of relatively small value, and it will be 2 months from the beginning of the competition till they probably get their hands on any time of prize, so there is only so much incentive to do that.
