Printer Recommendations..

OK my HP deskjet 690C has finally died... it got too greedy... it tried to eat 30 odd sheets at once.. I told it not to... but it didn't listen and now all it can do is regurgitate paper with random crap printed on it... (literally if I stick say a small wad of paper in the printer and turn it on it will go through each page and print a load of random crap on it)

Anyway to cut to the chase I've been thinking about getting a new printer anyway (wanted a USB jobby as they print sooo much faster than the crappy serial ones) but basically I and the rest of the family cannot be without a printer for more than a few days sooo... I need to find one tonight and order it...

I'm looking for something similar to what I had... a colour deskjet with a limited budget of upto around £100-£150 can anyone make any suggestions? cheers :p

HP PSC750 :p

Printing is excellent and so is the Scanning, its USB and only takes up around same room as a normal Printer.

Cost' around £100

Have you considered the random crap may be the printer trying to communicate with you - try talking to it, failing that...

Epson Stylus Photo 895 - USB and around £150 - I would give you a link but I must now eat me tea :)

I close friend of our family asked for an HP printer for his daughter for Xmas but was on a very tight budget, the low end of their photo colour range is only around £45 and it is a very suitable printer indeed, I was impressed.

Beware the ink cartridge cost !

We've had HP printers that do that its fixed by shutting down both the printer and computer as its some 'loose' data confusing the printer :/

That might work unless you already tried that :)

Incidentally that could well be dropping soon due to an EU verdict that....

1) The chips that HP and others put in their cartridges to prevent others from manufacturing them are anti-competitive

2) The fact they make the cartridges so difficult to refil are in breach of EU recycling laws....

:D
