Printer Install

Right I've just bought a new printer(Epson C80), I've installed the drivers off the disc that came with it and I've downloaded the XP drivers from the Epson site, I installed it the normal way(using driver disc)and I installed it in the "add printer" option. Now, the printer works fine, absolutely no problems with it at all, the problem I'm having is that every time I boot up I get the found new hardware icon at the bottom right by the time, it then copies some files over then says that the new driver has not been installed, c'mon guys any idea's?

/me waits for Emb

Whats in Device Manager? Is there any Icons next to any Hardware in there?

I've checked there and there is no printer option, although checking on the port's there is no problem's(it can be connected through USB or the parellel ports, I tried both).

Have you tried totally removing the driver/software and remove the printer off the USB. Restart and then plug the USB again and point if at the driver you downloaded.

I have Emb, I've tried it all, I had an Epson C40 before and I had no problems like this with that one(I believe they were released around the same time), all I've gotta do is not have my printer turned on and it doesn't do it but it still annoys me.

Have you gone to Epsons' Forum Page and posted on there?

Or checked their FAQ on Installing Problems?

Well I have had a few printers in recent months, they either just stop printing clearly or I beat them:eek: , anyway it had left some elements of the other printer drivers on the pc, so I had to search for Epson then remove all the associated files, then finally and most importantly I had to reinstall the new drivers BUT make sure the printer was turned off untill it ask's you to turn it on, this means that the driver will take over when the pc next recognises the printer, instead of windows trying to do it.

Phew me is happey now:D

I didn't know they were there, no indication of them at all, it needed searching out using the find files option thingy(is that instead of regedit?)

Well I had to format my pc again on Sunday, so I ran into this problem again, with my pc being being free of any files at all this couldn't of been the problem, any way I rang Epson and they were pants, no help at all, eventually I sorted it by choosing copy 1 of the printer in the add new printer option, I now have it installed twice but I don't care.

The reason I'm putting this in is because Epson have just rang me to ask how I sorted it out, boy do I feel important:D

40minutes?!!? hmm, i was on for about the same when i first got ADSl with BT :/

You tend to start lookin like the guy off the BT Together Advert, where he goes to see the Doctor about his fux0r3d neck, "Yeah im on Level 6 now!" or "yeah! i just stabbed someone to death! (Trem ;))"
