Prague or Reykjavik?

OK, for my 18th I have the choice of going somewhere for a weekend. My parents went to Prague in March and enjoyed it, and the beer is very cheap there. However, for some bizarre reason I like the look of Iceland, but I don't know anyone who has been there before so has anyone on here been or know of anyone who has been and what it's like? I'll probably end up going to Prague, as there is plenty to see and plenty to drink, but hey.

I also considered going to Rome and watching some football, but Italian football bores me silly. I like pasta though.

er, advice please.

Prague is a beautiful city, and lots of prostitutes too (so I'm told)

Prague all the way.

30p pints and prossers = win.

Saying that I have never paid for sex in my life. Well not willingly anyway.

How can you unwillingly pay for sex?

I'm going to Prague in just over 3 weeks, with work.

I have to say I am not looking forward to it as I still don't know anyone there and the fact that most will all go to get off their heads on booze and I don't drink :/

Yes, just a few. My parents came home with a few of the leaflets they picked up from the tourist information centre. There was one detailing restaurants, pubs, clubs, taxis and 'escort services'. Oh well, when in Rome....

Pilzen, Czech Republic - where Pilsner was created.

Price of a bottle of beer - average 9p equivalent.

Iceland - average price of a bottle of beer - £8-£12.

Been to both places, no contest - Prague is beautiful and there are loads of places (like Pilzen) nearby that are good to visit too.

I know Iceland is expensive, but what did you think of it mate? I've just been reading a couple of websites and it sounds great in a strange hello it's completely light at midnight way.

I'd like to see Prague though. Toughy.

I hated prauge, although i do agree it was a beautiful city. The police were corrupt, they took all the money in a friends wallet when they accused him of running traffic lights......on the motorway. Far too many of the vendors and resteraunts ttried to rip you off, but i did like the irish potato roastery thing just off the square)

Loved Rome though. Just so many things to see and do.

Hmm I don't know what you mean tdc :p

Once you get out of the capital Iceland indeed has some amazing scenery. Check out the geyser's etc etc. However the prices in the capital are just too damn prohibitive (same as Norway) imo.

Forget the stuff about prossers and cheap beer, besides that Prague and the rest of Czech is beautiful. Every building in Prague has a load of history. Poor Czechs were occupied by the Austrians for centuries, then the Nazis, then the Commies of course to you get a weird mix of architechture. Check out the kino (cinema) off Wenceslas Square - used to be the Nazi HQ for Prauge, weird as hell watching a film there thinking that the bosch used to sit there enjoying themselves.

Clubs and nightlife there = the win too. Keep a bit away from the old town (which is nice but v touristy so prices are higher) and watch for nice gyppo (proper gyppo) gangs of pickpockets that stand out a mile in Wenceslas Square.

I'll stfu - Prague > Iceland imo. But both would be nice.

Thanks tdc/Xtro. Much appreciated.

Anywhere else you'd recommend? I don't want to go somewhere that'll be completely full of tourists (i.e. France/Germany/Spain) but somewhere with interesting things.

How about Tallinn X? ;)
