Just bought an lcd projector, well ordered it anyway, anyone else use one to play DAOC?
Or am I venturing into uncharted waters.

No this isn't a boast 'I've got a projector thread'

It's an old model, cost me 600 sovs.

I think it will be the dogs bolax of a way to play DAOC.

Or it might make me puke with sensory overload.

kickass to play games like Tekken 3 or some sort of car racing game (if you have a wheel and pedals) but might be a tad overkill for daoc :)

Projector update, the device has arrived, just played Waverace on a 15ft diagonal 16:9 screen.

Holy fookin sheet, that's big, only sitting 10ft from screen, serious sensory overload.

Need a 20ft monitor lead now to hook up PC.

Here's the image, taken before I removed the picture rail and painted the wall with screen paint.

Sorry about quality, taken with a Nokia 7650, cos it's got a night setting, you can't use flash for obvious reasons.
Don't be fooled the image is pixel sharp on the wall, it's just the camera makes it look fuzzy.

Projecting directly onto a wall there, I notice....
I... well, I can't personally see the point, what's it like for watching DVD's and things?

That's too big to watch DVD's it makes you feel sick, it's a 16:9 projector (notice my char looks a bit fat) you can adjust it to 4:3, just looks better spread out.

About 8ft across is max for normal room, looks fookin amazing, Lord of the rings DVD looks awesome, but it does magnify any crap from cheap dvd player.

Just under 700 quid for the old Panasonic PTA 100, it looks so much better than any rear projector and if you drop the screen down to 50 inch it is as good as a high definition plasma, and you know the price of those, 5000hr bulb life, it's a no-brainer.

I have one, they are a rush with Raceing and flight sims, but i can't really play DAoC or FPS with them.

FPS is ok, but daoc, it ends up makeing you dizzy.
Best game i ever played on it was House of the dead, or use it on tha console for some Time crises Action

To be honest, it looks great and all, but I think for gaming it would make me feel sick ;\.

I still think it would be better for T.V. than gaming ;) although it would be cool to try out. Wouldn't you need some very long wires for your PC to use it with a PC? :p

Shame the house im moving to hasnt really got wall space for something like that or I would get it :p its a longish slim bedroom so can't get far back from the long walls, and the short ones might be too small :(

Project it out into the garden onto a big white screen that blocks all you neighbour's light and sit in the conservatory or something and play :p.
