Powersupply - never seen this be4...

oki this kinda beats me cuz I can't understand why its doing it, about 2-3 times each day my comp will turn itself insta off like it gets unplugged but the keyboard will stay turned on (little green light never goes out like it normnally do when comp shuts down). The on/off power button will not work nomatter HOW long i wait and the only way im can get the friggin thing to turn back on is by pulling out the power cable to the cpu from the box that links all my cables togeather into 1 switch (dont know the english word) and then moveing it to another 1 in that box.

Anyway my first guess was heat problems so I ran a program to look at my heat and gimme a log after crash, so it turned out its 32 degrees on crash so cant really be there my problem is - then again it even crashes when im doing nothing and left the room so i should have guessed it wasen't that.

Next part was to switch that little box all my power cables are plugged into but it just did it again so guess I either got 2 faulty boxes or its not the problem either.

Only thing i can think off right now is that my cable that goes from the box to my cpu is faulty or something is eating up all my pow at once leaving nothing left to run the cpu (once unplugged my screen by mistake instead of cpu once and it turned back on the sec i pulled it out like it got back the power it was needing)

Hope you understand what im trying to tell you and that you can help. Havent moved my cpu lately and is using the same switches/cables as i always have.

sounds like a heat problem adjust the temp setting for auto switch off in the bios settings (you should be able to find out how to do this from the manual if you aren't sure)
you are saying its 32'C which is probably the case temp not the cpu temp.
try taking the fan off your heat sink for the cpu and clean the crap out inbetween and also give the fan a clean with a damp cloth. use a hoover to clean all he air vents as well

the reason it won't power back on is because your cpu is too hot and the MB is saying not to allow power to it.

Usually when Computers shutdown in the middle of anything, with you being semi-sure that your hardware is functioning a-ok, it's usually PSU related.

See if you can get your hands on a PSU from a friend or another computer and test it with that.

I used to have a problem along this lines, and my PSU was only 2 months old so I thought it was just fine.

Replaced every hardware component in my computer (bloody expensive too :\) and turned out to be the PSU

I had very similar problem some time ago figured it was the psu, but I couldn't stop playing daoc so I kept waiting and powering it back up again. After a day or so the psu blew and took everything with it, including my mp3s, 2 hard drives (12gb worth of mp3s ), motherboard, cpu, everything except the cdrom drive .

Check it's not a temperature problem by all means but if that shows all ok get the psu replaced asap.

My cpu and motherboards/harddisk/ram is only 2 months old now and it just started about 1 week ago.. Could be a flawed cpu i guess but it worked fine when i just got it, dunno if it can turn bad this fast.. atleast the garantee is still good.
Doubt my cpu needs cleaning when its still so new and im using MSI PC Aleart 4 to monitor the heat, special program fitted to my CPU, it should mesure the right temp.

edit: i borrowed the PSU from a friends who had problems with hes comp turning off insta all the time but it worked fine when i putted it in mine, wonder if its turned bad again,.

Had that shit with an Enermax 300W power source. Eventually it stopped working at all.

It was a heat problem, but not with the CPU or GFX card but with the powersource itself. After the PC shut down I would get it to work by "pre-cooling" the powersource with a table fan. But it would shut down anyways after a while.

Replace your powersource and be happy you havent toasted your other PC components yet.

PS: I sent my Enermax powersource back to the seller and they told me it was a faulty series.
