one might say that it's part of a diabolical plan to infiltrate your minds via subliminal messaging on your desktops :)

Don't try this without a good graphics card. This NVIDIA TNT2 M64 is struggling with the transitions.

Half of what that does I can do atm with the bloody Nvidia Dets.

I was hoping for the funky toolbar that is in OS X, but no luck :/

Yes Sar, but you missed the bit that it said this is done via the Gfx card and not the CPU like it is done under normal transparency programs

Haven't tried it yet as it wants me to subscribe to Download.com

Just been trying this out and tbh the effects are poorly implemented. The screen isn't refreshed often enough, so while there's nifty transition effects going on in one window, the one behind it has garbled graphics until the effect stops... then its refreshed.

I won't be bothering, thanks.

that so? hmm starting to sound a bit sucky :/
ah well, I can't use it anyway :)

It doesn't properly support NVIDIA gfx cards which may be partly responsible

I've always found Stardock products to be clunky

So the Nvidia graphics drivers don't work through the graphics card then?

;)

No they work just not properly, I did a check and the transparency of a large window does not whack the CPU to 100%

Problem is a GF2go GPU is not really that much of an improvement over the 1.2ghz P3m :/

Been using winfx1.2 for mirc transparency for ages, it works fine so I see no reason to change :p

mIRC has its own transparency?

Under Options, if you have a recent version...

Only under 2k or NT/XP.

Doesn't work under 98, but then again not much does :p

Do you all use your desktops as a form of torture? Why would you set out to make a window harder to read by giving it other layers to contend with? Along that same hinderance line, why do people actually have any icons on their desktop, aside from to slow them down? I don't get the logic.

Maybe because most of us have systems that can cope with desktop icons without choking on the lack of system resources?

;)

lol

winXP regularly changes my desktop icon piccies... kinda randomises them so you dont know wtf your clicking tbh. Is that a bug/corrupt desktop display? or is it a new game M$ didnt tell us about for XP users only?

Ive got stardock wb atm, its neat cos it randomly loads skins (or bits of skins) and resizes your desktop wallpaper at varying times for that personalized feel.

"hide Desktop icons" "Windows classic blandeness" is the way forward imo
