(Potentially) a daft question

OK.

I have an armsman with a nice axe (for me). DPS 7.0 and speed of (lets say 5). So, as I understand it, it takes 5 seconds to swing the axe(?) and the damage done is 7.0 * 5.0 (?).

So, the faster the weapon, the lower the dmg PER SWING but over time the damage will presumably average out.

My question is, if someone casts an attack speed buff on me, do I attack faster and therefore cause less damage PER SWING?

Also, can anyone explain the new interface? Capped DPS, effective DPS etc?

If i cast my lv49 bolstering gust on a char it increases their attack speed by 48%!!! however it DOES NOT make them weaker so if u have 5 spd it be like 2.7 or so.

Its friday, I'm slow :)

DPS 7.0, normal speed 5.0 = dmg output 35

DPS 7.0 , adjusted speed 2.7 = dmg output 35.

The damage remains constant but I swing faster because of a magical effect then?

I think the capped DPS is the maximum DPS you can achieve at your level. The effective DPS is the best indication as it takes into consideration all aspects such as the item condition etc etc... a nice little enhancement IMHO.
