Post farming

I never quite understood why people are post farming on forums everywhere. what is the point of it? writing things like +1, ..., qq.... cry more n00b....flaming people in every kind of way.....and so on. Is there some kind of "look how many posts I have farmed during my forum time, i'm so '1337' " contest going on or? :/. I mean if people can't write something decent to reply with then why not do like I do, don't write anything at all.
I don't care if I got low post amount, if I see something i don't like I just go on read something else instead.
Hope that people can enlighten me in the subject at hand.

please provide real answers to this as this is a serious thread.

PS: if I see this will turn into yet another post farming thread I will close it down immediately.

Gotta say I agree, don't understand all this postfarming spammy stuff which is why I always make sure all my posts are both humorous yet informative.

This is why I don't even have 4500 posts on the forums yet

Some posts only need a short awnser, if everyone's post/reply was the length of a short novel then its highly unlikly that as many people would use the forums.

Relativly speaking BW isn't too bad when it comes to post farmers, imo a post farmer is sombody who does nothing but post stuff like +1, or somthing else which is unrelated to the topic of the post.

As for flames, that stems from the basis of a forum. A place to share opinions - and most of the time these opinions conflict. Some people are capable of accepting this and behaving in a considerate manner, others abuse their anonimity by saying stuff they'd never say if they were standing infront of the person (i.e - DiePlzKThxBye)

The forum policy is that if you simply post +1 or QQ you will get warned, then post count reset, then banned if you persist.

the forum makes this worse by having posting levels .. when ur post count reaches a certain number your granted more abilities.. like able to post links.. like having a custom title etc.. all adds to the farming

was a good example of why people post farm, now since I don't want this thread to become a post farming one or one with people flaming each other back and forth (better you do that on IRC where you can speak directly to each other) i'm now closing it down and let it sink into the forgotten world

I'm sorry, I know you closed this thread but I just have to respond to this. Those limits are VERY minor, infact at place at only 20 posts, so they are not really an incentive for long term spamming. Also, those limits are in place to protect the community from those people that register just to spam out#war links JOIN MY ARMY, check out my website, come to my forum, junk mail type stuff etc, and also to stop people that would join then slap a massive penis or something else inappropriate as an avatar just to cause hassle. Beyond twenty posts there are no "rewards" to posting other than altering titles.

Custom titles are given by mods, and are not earnt at any specific post count
