Possible Forum Shuffle

Me and Brinx have been bantering around some ideas, and we'd like some feed back from you all.

Are there any forums that you think aren't working, or that could do with being combined with other forums?

Do you think each server could do with its *own* off topic forum?

The role play taverns are pretty much tumble weed, but do you still want to keep them?

The camlann forums are fairly deserted... could they do with losing a few sub-forums?

If you have any ideas, please post them here.

Well I suggest the following:

1). Each server general forum should have it's own off-topic like you say. People are sometimes reluctant to post in the main off-topic forum in case they get their heads bitten off.

Maybe if they had their own 'off-topic' forum surrounded by their own player base they'd be happier.

Keep the off-topic section though, that's most important.

2). Roleplaying players have several homes, these boards aren't one of them. Swap the name for 'off-topic' and you're sorted and just have one general RP section.

3). 4 Mods aren't enough for this massive forum. You have Kemor etc.. but they don't really use their powers. Employ another mod or two who don't take shit from people* but who are firm believers in free speach and allow threads to prosper the way they usually do now.

4). The Camlann server has lots of dead mini sections that nobody ever uses, just combine those into one section.

*I'm not saying any current mods can't...

not taking shit from people implys they woundnt tolerate a flame thread directed at themselves.

allowing free speach and thread prospering implys leaving 99% of threads and only changing very few threads.

I may have misinterpretted but its strikes me that you cant have both realy.

I agree with Camlan forums going or shrinking, they are hardly ever used.

Mabey turn the general discussion into a general discussion/off topic kinda thing, people someotimes already post off topic there and I feel that most dicussion that is totally related to the game occurs either in RvR, BG or realm boards.

I'd like a General News/Announcements forum for announcements relevent to DAOC players. This would include many postings that already go into the General discussion (Patch news, server news, etc), but could also include announcements about, for instance, other MMORPGS (release dates, betas) that would normally get modded into 'Off Topic'.

Crafters forum would be nice, useful posts on crafting get lost amognst the pwned threads etc

do you invisage this being a mods posting only folder so kemor/mods can post the friday news extra there or would you rely on general people making posts?

The Off-topic forum

The roleplaying forums

Camlann - turn it into one general forum for Camlann.

Rename the trading forums to include crafting too.

seriously tho. I found Trine's idea rather good. it should be a Mod only forum to prevent mass spammage and flamage tho...
and, obviously, one forum for Camlann would be more then enough...

It's mostly players from Prydwen posting there anyway ie. the more intelligent part of the English server's community.

Well the main reason being that a lot of people are scared of going in the off topic section so they still posts crap in the general forums.

Not taking shit means you dont CARE if someone flame ya, not that you have to remove the thread Allowing free speach and only changing the rare porn-link signs and avatars giving sexual lessons is more or less what a mod SHOULD do =)

Im active on the exalibur forums, and now this two (off topic and general discussion) didnt really know they was here before, usually go right into exal

And for the removers..the roleplay forums is at least just to remove (no post last 30 days and such) and most camlann threads is dead enough to just be moved into one.

Not sure if a off topic chat on each server would be usefull, case we very often use the realm chat for off topic stash, since most "topic" comments end in rvr, item section or general anyways. Would be alot more usefull then the roleplay ones are of course, but i doubt you will find alot of activities there (then again, i have been wrong before)

And to cast a spell take us two seconds, and we refuse to spend ANY more time writing whatever then it would take us to cast it =)
In other words, we dont write correctly, but we write it damn fast

We had not really planned to add more, but remove alot of inactive forums.

For instance, i am the only one who have posted on the excalibur tavern for more then 50 days, and what i have written is: Remove this section, no one ever post here

As well as the camlann ones....
most of them is totaly inactive.
