This is my Remington 870 Wingmaster, with a little trophy I won a month or two ago.

It's a 1979 gun, a pump action considered an "American Classic" by people who like this stuff, i.e me :)

Wanna know something good about shooting? Nows the time to ask :D

There's my dog under the table, he's called Mossberg, after another of my shotguns. Well, he is a gun dog.

I got a question. In Young Guns Doc uses what I now know to be a Sharps 1874 Cavalry Carbine, can you still buy rifles that are that kind of loading/reloading action?

Yes: http://www.shilohrifle.com/

Personally I think the British Whitworth sniper rifles used by the Confederates were more interesting; hexagonal bullets!

What's the name of the rifle with the lever at the bottom? Good description I know. It's the one that Brendan Fraser uses in the mummy.

EDIT: Nevermind it's the 1873 Repeating Rifle. Always liked the look of that gun.

Yes you can, it's a kind of early lever action rifle. You can still buy them today, even in .22 calibre which is the only calibre here where you can have a multiple round magazine.

Here's one for sale right now - http://www.gunstar.co.uk/Rifle/Pedersoli-1874-sharps-gun-for-sale-gs72178.aspx

Jebus. Some cheap rifles on there. The perceived cost is something that has always put me off.

How much is a licence? Decent gun safe, ammo safe etc? What sort of references do you need?

The cost of rifle shooting aint that bad, particularly .22 rimfire. A rifle will cost a lot less than an air rifle, have twice the range and a lot more kinetic energy. The reason for this is simply supply and demand - less people to buy the things! Ammo is cheap as chips too, particularly if you consider the cost of my shotgun ammo, for example I pay £160 upwards for 1000 clay pigeon cartridges that I shoot maybe 125 in a day. A Brattonsound (defacto) safe costs about £125 and for rifle shooting you need a separate, smaller safe for ammo.

Getting a licence is like anything in shooting - either you have some land of your own, or you join a club. If you join a club you would normally do a probation thing for 6 months or whatever, then they will supply the back up and help you need to get a licence, it will be a forgone conclusion. You need 2 referees and a doctors name and address etc.

Shotguns are much more fun imo :)

Do they have rifles/shotguns for people to use while at the club?

Rifles and shotguns are almost always seperate, due to the different ways of shooting, unless you're at a massive place like Bisley.

Almost all small-bore rifle clubs will have club guns to use, so do a lot of clay pigeon grounds.

Errr... would East End London count? I don't exactly 'own' it, but some of the tossers round here make me want to 'pwn' it sometimes!

*Looks like a psycho killer in the making*

;)

PS - It's ok - anyone who has played ANY games with me knows I can't aim for shit! :D

It's an internally suppressed AR15 by the looks of it. Only saying that because the barrel looks like the internally suppressed AK47 from Sons of Guns.
