popup killer

I did a really quick search of the forums and can't seem to find any major endorsements for any apps, so I'm just wondering, can anyone recommend a decent spyware free popup killer? I'm stuck with IE which means no native popup defence and am getting blitzed with pesky little windows... elp!

When I upgraded to XP I had to re-purchase Norton AV, I actually got the Norton Internet Security suite instead which includes an ad blocker and pop up stopper, works a treat (its blocking the ad at the top of this page as well).

I can't recommend a better product, AV, Firewall, Ad Blocker, Popup Stopper and Child Filter all in one go, best to download from the US site as it's cheaper.

hmm, I just need a popup killer, seems an expensive option considering I'd be using a tiny portion of the overall bundle.

There's a proxy from PC Magazine called "CookieCop" (I think) that lets you control popups with an optional java popup to ask first.

Failing that, Mozilla 1.3 has a very simple but effective popup blocking. Basically, you can choose to block all with a whitelist or block none with a blacklist. It does a fine job to be honest. But it depends what you think of the rest of Mozilla. If you used an old version then I'd advise giving 1.3 a look, it has moved on quite a bit of late.

i diddnt like the proxomitron because you actually had to run the exe to make it work, i prefer adsheild it just installs itself into IE
