Poor Show

Bit of a gripe I'm afraid but what is it with the committment of clans to this league?

The admins have put in a lot of work to make this happen and what do we give them, 13 actual games played in week 7 out of a possible 36.

Sorry but that really is poor show, especially considering all players know well in advance that they will be on the same night each week.

Well, MCP were supposed to play u guys last night, and we chose to use our postponement token. We have never missed a match up till now, and to quote the rules I believe we "used our token wisely".

Our situation was that we had 4 members who left the clan, but didn't have the decency to inform us. We found out 30 minutes before the match was due to start.
We have enough members to recover from this, and we will return next week.

Incidentally, our ex-members, were spotted playing under their new tag, against u guys last night on your Clan Server - lol.

Clan Leaders across most clans work hard to keep their members happy. You shouldn't blame the Clan as a whole, when it can be down to a few rogue members, who are only interested in glory, and have no sense of team spirit.

hi greendemon,

please note this wasn't a pop at you guys. yes you used your postponement token and had the decency to inform us. no problem there. and i acknowledge that due to unforseen circumstances clans may not be able to field a team on a given night.

it was just a general comment about the number (or lack of) actual games being played from week to week. a shame considering the effort that's gone into the league and i really do like the divisional idea, making for closer contests.

interesting comment about your ex-members.

I'll agree with Greendemon on this one... when the league first started, [UC_UK] had at least 13 people interested in playing every game... lately we're battling to field a team, and had to use our postponement token last weekend too... I think all in all this league has been a bit 'bumpy' and perhaps next season will be better with only clans that are committed to staying through till the end...

i think it's a little unfair to shout at clans about not showing up. we The Phoenix Knights have matches every week, up to 4 a week. on monday we found that a lot member were unable to play. i had to work a night shift! i think if teams used the token then the no show was fair.

PxRx are a clan that has regular matches like us and you know that a lot of the teams in barrys league are also regular players. i think this thread is stupid:puke:

I think the starting of this tread was to also say about all of the drop out clans, not just the fact that people postpone. Afterall, whats the point in having a postponement token if we don't want you to feel you can use it?
There are now 4 dead clans in my division (2b) and I'm desperatly hoping that UC_UK aren't going to join them... On sunday there was a total of... 1 game being played in the 9pm timeslot that Div 2b uses, and 8 games played the whole of Sunday... Not to moan, but this can be considered a waste of an hour because it is easily possible to fit 12 games in 2hrs with the use of the 6 league servers.

Lets hope that next season is better. However by letting in new clans, you run the same risk of getting alot of dropouts by clans that stay alive for 5 minutes. Should be better tho because the large majority will have been playing for a season and be a bit more dedicated

simple solution, dont let in more clans, at least no more then 48 for a total, thinkthat will solve a lot of probs, as u can spread the games out a bit more, and there will be less games so easier managing for u admins (heck i might even become an admin again if all the wankers are left out)

The reason EBG used our token and later left the league:

We used our token when the map to be played was depot, with rules noone ever use. Thinking this was stupid, we decided to use our token and wait until next week, ie if BWRTCWL chose to continue with such behaviour. Luckily, we found out that next weeks maps would be Assault and Base, and from what I understood would Base be in SW (defending for 15 minutes, almost impossible). One day or so before the match I though found out that wasn't the case, all maps would be MP, which I felt was rather dumb.

Anyway, I have always been the one thinking SW is the way to go for clan-matches, and I can see a change happening in the euro rtcw scene (finally). But after getting a tie in that match, where we blew both towers in Base and the radar in Assault fast, while the enemy blew them in the last minute, we had enough.

But this is season 1, which is bound to have it's problems. I hope season 2 runs smoother, which I really predict it will, and seeing that SW will be the mode to use, expect us to apply for entering next season.

Indeedy, tis true that. I should think it quite likely the league can go to 48 clans next season, there are bound to be a few more dropouts.

Just looked, we're on 56 participating clans. Only 8 more leavers and the league can go ahead on 48.

A shame, but things will get better (imo)

I agree its a pity that the games were undersubscribed last week, but I guess thats a factor of big league plus fairly new type of game - bound to get a lot of clan fallout.

It will get better as the wannabees die off and the die-hards pick up the slack. hmm which one shall i be?? :)

I forsee that next season will be far less of a rollercoaster than this one. With Wolf's popularity receeding slightly, most of the "part-time" players have moved on to greener pastures leaving the DieHard Wolf players to get on with the job at hand.

Just this week we had three people leaving our clan because they no longer feel they want to play Wolf as a clan game. Whilst we do not cherish losing players, it's good that what we do have left in the team now are the dedicated players who we know will be there when asked and will put the time in to improve.

I think we have yet to see the golden age of our favourite game.

recently i've seen the way forward IS stopwatch.

We've had some stupid draws recently, looking at post match stats with a 4 kills per death ratio and stuff, yet a draw result?

In scrims and stuff, we only play stopwatch now. It encourages better, more efficient execution of tactics, and removes the possibility of any draws.

So what you are saying is:

"We had a draw so we left, we didn't like the map so we pulled a PP token".

I'm sorry, but I think your attitude stinks.

The reason BW played Depot the way they did was because:

a) Depot is an interesting map, so it deserves to be played sometime in the league, but...
b) playing it normally means that there is zero timelimit, no matter whatever is being displayed.

I don't know why some people thought it was stupid, it did result in some rather crazy matches when Axis were attacking due to the small playing area, but overall i would say it was a sensible thing to do.

Oh yeah I think i need to change my signature :( Bye bye, D2A, hello =TEW=
