Anyone know why green poker visors were used in the old days of playing poker? Friend of mine swears it's to stop players looking into the eyes of the dealer and seeing the cards he has?

Could not find much on google, just kept throwing links to buy the damn things.

Its simply to cover your eyes.
One of the best ways of reading a player is by what/who/when they look at certain things.

Nothing else.

It was the dealer who wore them, not the players.

OK, the original question was phrased " in the old days".
In the old days the dealers wore visors, the players did not, watch any old western movie that has a casino. Nowadays players wear all kinds of visors, sunglasses and peaked caps.
Some people don't need google, they have knowledge.

Well my quick google produced :-

The visor was traditionally worn by old-time accountants and now more associated to the casino dealer. It seems that either traditionally it was the accounts role as money handler/dealer or that this was copied from the accounts to show the dealer was in charge of the money.

How cliche.

It doesn't really matter though, because you're all gay.
