As self-appointed Realm Chronicler of Albion/Excalibur and a Minstrel at that, I have taken the liberty of writing a number of poems describing some of the heroes of Albion. I thought I should post them here (on Fingoniel's urging) so that more can get to read them.
The Tread of Assassins
The fall of the leaf, the wind in the basin,
All resound louder than the tread of assassins.
Eyes of darkness, mind of cunning,
Ever-watchful for the careless running.
Daggers flash through night-chilled air,
Find their marks with ruthless flair.
Sheathing these weapons with satisfied glee,
Yet an enemy unable to flee!
The Sorcerer's Ambition
Moulding minds with arcane magic,
Leading foes to ends so tragic.
Whispering honeyed words of power,
Endeavouring all will to cower.
Savage beast at beck and call,
Guarding its master lest he fall.
Tempted by dominion's lure,
A sorcerer's ambition has no cure.
A Versatile Beast
While roguish and charming with a lute in his hands,
This poet of battle thrives in war-ravaged lands.
Tapping his drum with effortless ease,
Playing his flute to make his foe freeze.
Bending the will of the creatures around,
Sending them chasing the target to ground.
Hide in thin air, perform at a feast.
Aye, the minstrel's a versatile beast.
Any comments are of course welcome! More poems will follow soonish. The Fearless
In his shining armor dressed,
Always stoic, ever blessed.
By the Holy Church anointed,
Weapons at the foe is pointed.
Sacred longsword bravely swinging,
Bloodied shield the weak upbringing.
Striding forth with fearless power,
Paladins will never cower.
