I was playing around on my dads pc, trying to get the network up and running and for some reason the internet is really slow now, and doesnt work at all sometimes.
Its a cable modem, Telewest broadband. Modem is a SB4100 Cable modem - Surfboard.

did you possibly change the settings on the network connection to the cable modem? might be an idea if you let us know what 'trying to get the network up and running' entailed

id turn the power off to the modem then back on again. Then in tools in explorer click on internet options, then connections, then lan setting (at bottom) and check automatically detect network. That should sort it.
